The company presented a brand new line for small productions at the Düsseldorf fair K 2007: Trim-Co, the smallest Compac line the company has ever made. Like all the lines in the Compac range, Trim-Co consists of a shredder, an extruder and a head cutter, but this complete line for regenerating plastic is really very small: its overall measurements are just 2 metres long and 1.5 m wide.
Trim-Co is designed to regenerate materials such as films, fibres, fabrics and yarns. The line is particularly suitable for regenerating HDPE, LDPE, PE and PP in the shape of films, shoppers and bags, small cut reels, production waste. Average production is 50 kg/h and the total installed power is just 37 Kw.
Feeding comprises a 50 cm ø shredder that shreds the material so it is suitable to enter the extruder. While the material is being shredded it is heated to thicken it and to evaporate any moisture. By thickening it we guarantee a constant flow to the extruder. After this first process and once it is heated, the material goes directly into the extruder. The melted materials to regenerate are taken along a conveyor belt and into the system. Reels of film are, instead, put in the extruder by means of a drive (or reel unwinder) which is supplied with the machine. Trimmings can be blown directly into the shredder by a “cyclone”.
The extruder used on the Trim-Co line has a 50 mm ø screw which allows a constant flow of material, ensuring defect-free granules. The filter-changer is an optional feature and, if required, a 75 mm ø one can be installed. A head cutter, TDA 1.0, is installed at the end of the line, improved and interpreted to meet the most demanding needs.
Thanks to a new setting of the centrifuge connected to the head cutter for drying the granules, this cutting system is also suitable for master batch productions. The compact dimensions have made it possible to design the centrifuge in such a way that the cleaning operations for the colour change are extremely easy. In about 15 minutes the centrifuge and the tank can be cleaned completely in just three steps, including the rotor, simply by loosening one screw.
