Systems for the production of extruded polystyrene (XPS)

Extruded polystyrene systems - XPS panels

XPS is the term used to indicate extruded polystyrene: a plastic material combined with other components and expanded by means of a foaming agent in order to create a continuous structure.

Extruded polystyrene is used as an insulating material, it has several properties, such as: simple installation (it’s very light but very strong), high resistant to temperature changes, physical and dimensional stability, good resistance to compression, is an inorganic product (therefore it prevents the development of micro organisms such as fungus and moulds), it’s water-resistant and does not endanger people or the environment.

Fields of employment

There are several fields of employment: in urban housing it's an excellent insulating material for walls, ceilings, countertops, floors and the channeling of air ducts.

In the industrial sector is used as insulation in power plants (both conventional and nuclear), as insulation for chemical plants and refineries, for the insulation of pipes that carry liquids or hot oils.

Another major application is in transports, namely the thermal insulation of cabins, tanks, wagon trains and airplanes.

Thanks to XPS you can save energy and reduce pollution.
