Glass wool production line

Gamma Meccanica's lines transform material derived from a mixture of siliceous sand into glass wool. Glass wool lines differ from rock wool production systems due to a number of specific technological features.
A complete line for the production of glass or rock wool can count on over thirty different units, each with specific functions.

The working width of a production line can be 1200-1800-2000-2400 mm.

  • Glass wool - raw material
  • Glass wool - raw material mixing
  • Glass wool - basing melter
  • Glass wool - movable walls
  • Glass wool - glass wool forming chamber
  • Glass wool - polymerisation oven
  • Glass wool - hot roll
  • Glass wool - longitudinal cutting unit
  • Glass wool - longitudinal cutting unit
  • Glass wool - roll wrapping system
  • Glass wool - roll-up machine
  • Glass wool - panel packing machine

Fibre production

A complete glass wool production system consists in several machines that perfom a process. Though this process, siliceous sand is transformed into glass wool panels or felt.
During the first stage of this process raw materials are stored and mixed.

Polymerisation system and smokes filtration system

The density of the final product is determined during this production stage. Quality polymerisation is achieved using systems with low energy consumption, able to guarantee excellent results in terms of product formation and curing.

Smokes produced during the polymerisation stage, are sucked by means a special fans and piping system into the filtering system which treats and re-circulates the air.

Trimming, facing and cutting systems

Once the polymerisation process is completed, the glass wool is transformed into panels or mattresses. The material is trimmed as it leaves the polymerisation oven. The trimmings are automatically recovered and returned to the production process.
The line can be integrated with a facing system where the glass wool is faced or coupled with other materials (aluminium, kraft paper, glass veil).

A cutting system and guillotine is installed on the main process line to define the length and width of the end product.

Packaging systems for roll or panel

Gamma Meccanica has designed systems able to package glass wool products in the form of panels or felt.

In particular, the packaging systems are designed to optimise the dimensional tolerance of the product, allowing improved compression during packaging and thus making transport easier and cheaper.
